Xanterra Parks & Resorts in Death Valley has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Manager at the Furnace Creek Inn & Ranch Resort.
Job Summary: This position is responsible for managing all purchasing, distribution and warehouse functions for Furnace Creek Inn & Ranch Resort and Stovepipe Wells.
1. Select, train, schedule and supervise warehouse staff.
2. Oversee the efficient and effective use and maintenance of the Food Trak system.
3. Implement and maintain proper security and internal controls for purchasing, receiving and transfer functions and warehouse inventory.
4. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with corporate purchasing and property departments.
5. Ensure adherence to company-wide purchasing policies and procedures.
6. Review and evaluate purchases to ensure quality materials from reliable sources in the most efficient manner at the best prices.
7. Ensure par levels are maintained and rotate stock in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
8. Submit timely reports to management as needed concerning price trends, availability and recommendations for the development of new or substitute materials.
9. Develop and implement procedures for identifying slow-moving and obsolete inventory items and make recommendations regarding the use and/or disposal of such items.
10. Review purchase requests, analyze bids/quotes and determine and/or approve the method of purchase.
11. Perform vendor evaluations and maintain record of all qualified and acceptable vendors.
12. Develop and maintain purchasing and warehouse policies and procedures.
13. Oversee the receiving and distribution functions to ensure the accuracy of orders and quality of merchandise.
14. Implement and maintain effective and efficient tracking and storage of products.
15. Track inventories and notify appropriate departments of re-order status.
16. Plan and conduct regularly scheduled inventories of the warehouse.
17. Complete annual reviews for all assigned personnel and conduct corrective action as needed.
18. Assist on special projects and other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: |
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
3 years operations management experience preferred.
2 years purchasing, logistics/distribution and warehouse operations experience.
Excellent PC skills to include Microsoft Office applications (strong Excel experience) and experience with, or the ability to learn, the Food Trak purchasing/inventory system.
Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills demonstrated in a fast-paced customer-oriented environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with other departments.
Valid driver’s license.
The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and withstand lots of walking, standing, stooping and turning.
Must have the endurance to function in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
